AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING ELECTION RETURNS OF RUN-OFF ELEFTION HELD
APRIL 21, 1979, TO ELECT TWO COUNCILPERSONS TO TWO PLACES, PLACES
TWO AND THREE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I
That the City Council officially finds and determines that
a run-off election was duly ordered to be held in the City of
Denton, Texas, on the 21st day of April, 1979, for the purpose of
electing two members to said Council, one member to be elected to
Place Two and one member to be elected to Place Three for two (2)
year terms, that proper not~ce of sa~d elect~on was duly g~ven,
that proper elect~on officers were duly appointed prior to sa~d
elect~on, that sa~d election was duly held, that due returns of the
result of said elect~on have been made and delivered, and that the
C~ty Council has duly canvassed sa~d returns, all zn accordance
w~th law
SECTION II
That the C~ty Council officially £1nds and determines that
only resident qualified electors of sa~d C~ty were allowed to
vote at sa~d election, and the following votes were cast at sa~d
elect~on for each candidate and write-in, there being no other
person receiving any votes at this election
PLACE TWO (2) George Schneider 986 votes
Ray Stephens 2185 votes
PLACE THREE (3) Mary Claude Gay 1218 votes
Bud Hensley 1954 votes
SECTION III
That the C~ty Council officially f~nds, determines and de-
clares the results of sa~d election to be that Ray Stephens ~s
elected to Place Two (2) for a two year term, and Bud Hensley ~s
elected to Place Three (3) for a two year term, and they received
the proper number of votes to be elected, and that they are elec-
ted to said Council in accordance w~th law
PASSED AND APPROVED this the 22nd day of April, A D 1979
