1979-029AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING ELECTION RETURNS OF ELECTION HELD APRIL 7,
1979, TO ELECT THREE CITY COUNCILPERSONS TO THREE PLACES, PLACES
ONE (1), TWO (2) AND THREE (3)
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I
That the Cmty Councml offmcmally fmnds and determmnes that an
electmon was duly ordered to be held mn the Cmt¥ of Denton, Texas,
on the ?th day of Aprml, 1979, for the purpose of electmng three
(3) members to said Councml, three members to be elected to Places
One (1), Two (2), and Three (3) for two (2) year terms, that proper
notice of said electmon was duly gmven, that proper election officers
were duly appomnted prmor to samd electmon, that sa~d electmon was
duly held, that due returns of the result of samd election have been
made and delivered, and that the Cmty Councml has duly canvassed
said returns, all mn accordance wmth law
SECTION II
That the City Councml off~cmally fmnds and determmnes that only
resident quali~med electors of samd Cmty were allowed to vote at
samd electmon, and the £ollowlng votes were cast at said electmon
for each candidate and write-in, there being no other person recemv~nz
any votes at this electmon

the results of samd election to be that Roland Vela ms elected to
Place One (1) for a two year term, and he recemved the proper number
of votes to be elected, and that he ms elected to samd Councml mn
accordance wmth law, and it ms determmned that a specmal run-off
electmon is necessary to fill Place Two (2) and Place Three (3)
