1978-051AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE BUDGET FOR THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS,
FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING ON OCTOBER 1, 1978, AND ENDING ON
SEPTEMBER 30, 1979, REVISING THE BUDGET FOR THE PRECEDING FISCAL
YEAR ENDING ON SEPTEMBER 30, 1978, LEVYING TAXES FOR THE YEAR
1978 TO BE ASSESSED ON ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY WITHIN THE LIMITS OF
THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, notice of a public hearing on the budget for the
City of Denton, Texas, for the fiscal year 1978-79 was hereto-
fore published at least fifteen (15) days in advance of said
hearing, and
WHEREAS, a public hearing on the said budget was duly held
on the 29th day of September, 1978, and all interested persons
were given an opportunity to be heard for or against any item
thereof; now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I
That the budget for the City of Denton, Texas, for the fiscal
year beginning October 1, 1978, and ending on September 30, 1979,
in words and figures as shown therein is finally approved and
adopted, and that sa~d budget shows Revenues of $37,621,047 and
Expenditures of $37,422,767
SECTION II
That the budget for the City of Denton, Texas, for the f~scal
year beginning on October 1, 1977, and ending on September 30, 1978,
as shown there~n in words and figures, is hereby revised and amended
to show the words and f~gures ~nd~cated as "REVISED 1977-78" in the
budget for the f~scal year beginning on October 1, 1978 and ending
on September 30, 1979, and to show REVISED REVENUES OF $33,008,229
and REVISED EXPENDITURES OF $30,536,930
SECTION III
That there shall be, and there is hereby lev~ed, the following
taxes on each One Hundred Dollar ($100 00) valuation on all taxable
property within the City of Denton, Texas, to be assessed and col-
lected by the Tax Assessor and Collector for the year 1978 and sa~d
taxes are to be assessed and collected for the purposes stipulated
as follows, to-wat.
(a) For the General Fund Allocataon
on the $100 00 valuation . $ 7280
(b) For the Interest and Redemption
Funds on outstanding bonded
debtedness on the $100 00
valuation 5120
Total Allocation of Levy . $1 2400
The above allocation of the levy is made to ansure that de-
posits in the Interest and Redemption Funds of taxes collected
during the year endang September 30, 1979, will total $1,396,233
but is not intended to exceed that amount
SECTION IV
The City Manager is hereby authorazed to transfer the amounts
of money contained in the Contingency Fund as contained an the
1978-79 budget to the varaous departments as needed to fund adjust-
ments an the pay plan an accordance wath the nane (9%) percent cost
of living increase approved by the City Council
SECTION V
That the City Manager shall cause copaes of the budget to be
faled with the City Secretary, the County Clerk of Denton County
and the State Comptroller of Public Accounts
SECTION VI
That if any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause,
phrase or word in this ordinance, or applacatlon thereof to any
person or carcumstances as held invalid by any court of competent
jurisdiction, such holdang shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portions of this ordinance, and the City Council of the
City of Denton, Texas, hereby declares it would have enacted such
remaining portions despite any such anvalldlty
SECTION VII
That this ordinance shall be effectave lmmedaately upon its
passage.
