1978-044AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, ESTABLISHING TRAFFIC
CONTROL SIGNALS AT THE INTERSECTION OF EAGLE DRIVE AND CARROLL
BOULEVARD AND AT THE INTERSECTION OF BELL AVENUE AND SHERMAN
DRIVE, PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, PROVIDING A PENALTY THERE-
FORE, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, in the interest of safety for the vehicular and
pedestrian traffic in the City of Denton it is desirable to erect
and maintain traffic control s~gnals at the intersections of Eagle
Drive and Carroll Boulevard and Bell Avenue and Sherman Drive in
the City of Denton, Texas
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DENTON, TEXAS, THAT
PART I
A traffic control signal shall be installed at the intersection
of Eagle Drive and Carroll Boulevard and a traffic control signal
shall be installed at the intersection of Bell Avenue and Sherman
Drive, and the City agrees to enforce all regulations as may be
necessary for proper operation of the Installation, and shall main-
tain and operate the signals in a satisfactory manner
PART II
That if any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause,
phrase or word in this ordinance, or application thereof to any per-
son or circumstances is held invalid by any court of competent 3urns-
diction, such hotdlng shall not affect the validity of the remaining
portions of this ordinance, and the City Council of the City of
Denton, Texas, hereby declares it would have enacted such remaining
portions despite any such ~nvalld~ty
PART III
Any person who violates any provision of th~s ordinance shall
be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and, upon conviction, shall be
punished by a fine not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars ($200 00) Each
day such a violation shall continue or be permitted, shall be treated
as a separate offense
PART IV
That this ordinance shall be effective l~edlately upon its
passage
