1978-043AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, REPEALING THE ONE (1%) PERCENT CITY
SALES TAX ON RESIDENTIAL GAS AND ELECTRIC SERVICES, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE
WHEREAS, a one (1%) percent Local Sales and Use Tax was offzclally adopted
by a favorable vote of the qualified electors of the C~ty of Denton on December
9, 1967, and
WHEREAS, the 65th Legzslatlon of the State of Texas, 1st Called Session,
has enacted Legislation exenrpt~ng residential use of gas and electricity from
the four (4%) percent State Sales Tax and providing a local option on the one
(1%) percent C~ty Sales and Use Tax,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TI~ CITY OE DENTON, TEXAS,
THAT
PART I
The one (1%) percent Local Sales and Use Tax on residential gas and electric
services ~s hereby re,pealed
PART I I
That thzs Ordznance and the repeal of the tax shall become effectzve on
October 1, 1978
