AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING ELECTION RETURNS OF ELECTION HELD APRIL
1978, TO ELECT TWO CITY COUNCILPERSONS TO TWO PLACES, PLACES FOUR
(4) AND FIVE (5)
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I
That the City Council officially f~nds and determines that
an election was duly ordered to be held ~n the C~ty of Denton,
Texas, on the 1st day of April, 1978, for the purpose of electing
two (2) members to sa~d Council one member to be elected to Place
Four (4) and one member to be elected to Place F~ve (5) for two
(2) year terms, that proper notice of sa~d elect~on was duly g~ven,
that proper elect~on officers were duly appointed prior to sa~d
elect~on, that sa~d elect~on was duly held, that due returns of
the result of sa~d election have been made and delivered, and that
the C~ty Councxl has duly canvassed said returns, all in accordance
w~th law
SECTION II
That the C~ty Council officially finds and determines that
only resident qualified electors of sa~d C~ty were allowed to vote
at sa~d el~ct~on, and the following votes were cast at said elect~on
for each candidate and write-in, there being no other person receiv-
ing any votes at this elect~on

SECTION III
That the C~ty Council officially f~nds, determines and declares
the results of sa~d elect~on to be that B~ll Nash ~s elected to Place
Four (4) for a two (2) year term, and R~chard O Stewart is elected
to Place F~ve (5) for a two year term, and each received the proper
number of votes to be elected, and that each of them ~s elected to
sa~d Council ~n accordance with law
PASSED and APPROVED this the 4th day of April, A D 1978

by the City Council of said City at a special meeting held at the
regular meeting place on the 4th day of April, A D 1978~ which
ordinance has been duly recorded ~n the M~nutes of the C~ty Council
2 The following are the members and officers of said City

Joe Mitchell, Mayor Pro-Tem
R~chard Stewart, Councllperson
B~ll Nash, Counc~lperson
Mary Claude Gay, Counc~lperson
and all said persons were present at the t~me of passage of sa~d
ordinance except the following absentees
3 That sa~d ordinance was introduced for the consideration
of said C~ty Council by ~ts presiding officer and read ~n full, and
upon motion duly made and seconded, sa~d ordinance was passed by the
following vote

4 That each of the members and officers of sa~d City Council
was duly and sufficiently notified officially and personally, in
advance, of the tzme, place, and purpose of the aforesaid meeting,
and each of sa~d members and officers consented in advance to the

5 That the City Attorney of sa~d C~ty has approved sa~d ordin-
ance, that the Mayor and City Secretary of sa~d C~ty have duly s~gned
said ordinance, and that said ordinance was duly enacted
