1976-056AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24, ARTICLE V OF THE CODE OF ORDIN-
ANCES OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, PROVIDING FOR CURB LOADING
ZONES, REPEALING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES, PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY
CLAUSE AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF T~E CITY OF D~NTON, TEXAS, HEREBY ORDAINS
S~CTION I
Sections 24-128(g), 24-129 l(b) and 24-131 of Chapter 24,
Article V of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Denton are
hereby amended to read as follows
Section 24-128 PERMIT REQUIRED, APPLICATION, WHEN
AUTHORIZED
(g) Loading zones may only be used for the actual loading
and unloading of commercial or customer vehicles except that the
owner of the loading zone may register with the Traffic Safety
Support Commission and Chief of Police each vehicle w~th very
properly affixed signs ldentlfylng it as a commercial vehicle
Such vehicle may remain parked within the loading zone between
deliveries
Section 24-129 1 LOADING ZONES - PARKING RESTRICTIONS
(b) It shall be unlawful to park an unattended vehicle not
having properly affixed signs attached thereto ~dent~fy~ng the
vehicle as a commercial vehicle w~th~n a loading zone at any t~me
for any purpose
Section 24-131 IMPOUNDMENT OF STANDING OR PARKED VEHICLES
(a) (4) When any vehicle is left unattended in a loading zone
and is not authorized to be parked in such loading zone, and the
perm~ttee of such loading zone has requested the removal of said
vehicle
SECTION II
That if any section, subseotlon, paragraph, sentenoe, clause,
phrase or word ~n this ordinance, or application thereof to any
person or circumstances is held ~nval~d by any court of competent
jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portions of th~s ordinance, and the City Council of the
C~ty of Denton, Texas, hereby declares ~t would have enacted such
remaining portions desplte any such ~nval~d~ty
SECTION III
That thls ordinance shall become effective fourteen (14) days
from the date of ~ts passage, and the Clty Secretary is hereby
d~rected to cause the caption of th~s ordinance to be published
twice ~n the Denton Record-Chronicle, the official newspaper of
the Clty of Denton, Texas, w~th~n ten (10) days of the date of
· ts passage
