1976-055AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING TWO-WAY VEHICULAR TRAFFIC ON PORTIONS OF MCCORMICK STREET SOUTHBOUND BETWEEN UNDERWOOD STREET AND AVENUE A, AFTER FINDING THAT THE PUBLIC SAFETY AND WELFARE RE- QUIRES ONE-WAY THEREUPON, PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR VIOLATIONS THEREOF, PROVIDING THE INSTALLATION OF PROPER SIGNS AND MARK- INGS, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, HEREBY ORDAINS SECTION I The C~ty Councll hereby flnds and determines that the public safety and welfare requires the termination of two-way traffic upon the street portion described below, and providing a one-way vehicular traffic pattern ~n l~eu thereof, therefore, the follow- lnq port~on of McCorm~ck Street ~s hereby declared to be for one d~rect~on vehicular traffic only a Southbound on M¢Corm~ck Street from ~ts ~ntersect~on w~th Underwood Street to ~ts intersection w~th Avenue A SECTION II It shall be unlawful for any person to drive or operate a vehicle upon the port,on of street described above ~n a d~rect~on other than as posted, and all s~gns ~nstalled pursuant hereto shall be official traffic control devices SECTION III The v~olatlon of any provision of th~s ordinance shall be punished by a f~ne of not exceeding Two Hundred ($200 00) Dollars, and Section 1-5 of the Code of Ordlnances is lncorporated here~n and made a part hereof SECTION IV That th~s ordinance shall become effectlve fourteen (14) days from the date of ~ts passage, and the C~ty Secretary ~s hereby dlrected to cause the caption of thls ordlnance to be published twlce in the Denton Reoord-Chronlcle, the official newspaper of the C~ty of Denton, Texas, wlthln ten (I0) days of the date of ~ts passaqe PASSED AND APPROVED Thls the 7th day of December, A D 1976 ELINOR HUGHES, MAWR CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS ATTEST.
