1974-021AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF THE CITY OF DENTON BY
ADOPTING THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE, 1973 EDITION, VOL-
UME I, WITH CERTAIN DELETIONS AND AMENDMENTS, PROVIDING
PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS OF THE NEW CODE, AND DECLARING
AN EFFECTIVE DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, HEREBY ORDAINS
PART I
That Section 5-13 of Article II, Chapter Fzve of the
Code of Ordznances of the City of Denton, Texas, zs hereby
repealed and supplanted, and shall hereafter read as
follows
ARTICLE II Buzlding Code
"Sec 5-13 Adopted
The Uniform Building Code, 1973 Edztzon, Volume I, as
adopted by the International Conference of Butldzng Officzals
copzes of which are on file zn the offzce of the Czty Secre-
tary, are hereby adopted and deszgnated as the buzldlng code
of the city the same as though ~azd volume of such code were
copied at length herein, subject to the deletions and amend-
ments enumerated in Section 5-14 hereinafter"
PART II
That if any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence,
clause, phrase or word in this ordznance, or applicatzon
thereof to any person or circumstances zs held znvalzd by any
court of competent 3urzsdictzon, such holding shall not affect
the validity of the remainzng portions of thzs ordmnance, and
the City Counczl of the Czty of Denton, Texas, hereby declares
it would have enacted such remainzng portzons despite any such
znvalidity
PART III
That this ordinance shall be effectzve on and after
the first day of August, A D 1974, and the City Secretary
zs hereby dzrected to publzsh the captzon of thzs ordznance
twzce zn the Denton Re¢ord-Chronzcle wzthzn fourteen (14)
days of the date of its passage
