1972-036 NO ~ ' ~ AN ORDINANCE CHANGING THE LEGAL MAXIMUM SPEED LIMITS ON HIGHWAY ENTRANCES, PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR VIOLATION THEREOF, AND DECLAR- ING AN EFFECTIVE DATE THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, HEREBY ORDAINS SECTION I That the maximum speed limit on the described portions of highway entrances within the City of Denton are hereby changed as follows SPEED LIMIT ON DALLAS DRIVE SHALL HEREAFTER BE 60 MPH from center line of Interstate 35E Service Road to 200 feet southeast of Piping Rock, 50 MPH from 200 feet southeast of Piping Rock to 400 feet southeast of Willow Springs, 45 MPH from 400 feet southeast of Willow Springs to 300 feet southeast of Smith Street, 40 MPH from 300 feet southeast of Smith Street to the center line of Johnson Street SPEED LIMIT ON NORTH ELM STREET (OLD SANGER HIGHWAY) SHALL HEREAFTER BE 60 MPH from north City Limits to center line of Riney Road, 50 MPH from center line of Riney Road to center line of Fall- meadow Drive, 45 MPH from centerline of Fallmeadow Drive to center line of Sanger Road, 35 MPH from center line of Sanger Road to center line of Orr Street, 30 MPH from center line of Orr Street to center line of University Drive, SPEED LIMIT ON TEASLEY LANE SHALL HEREAFTER BE 50 MPH from south City Limits to 200 feet south of Longridge Drive, 45 MPH from 200 feet south of Longridge Drive to 600 feet of Londonderry Lane, 40 MPH from 600 feet south of Londonderry Drive to 300 feet south of Interstate 35E Service Road, 35 MPH from 300 feet south of Interstate 35E Service Road to 300 feet south of Dallas Drive, 30 MPH from 300 feet south of Dallas Drive to center line of Dallas Drive SPEED LIMIT ON FORT WORTH DRIVE SHALL HEREAFTER BE 60 MPH from 300 feet south of Santa Fe Railroad to 1200 feet north of Santa Fe Railroad, north 50 MPH from 1200 feet/of Santa Fe Railroad to 300 feet south of James Street, 45 MPH from 300 feet south of James Street to 200 feet south of MXT & TP Railroad, 40 MPH from 200 feet south of MKT & TP Railroad to center line of Acme Street, 35 MPH from center line of Acme Street to center line of Myrtle Street, 30 MPH from center line of Myrtle Street to center line of Eagle Drive SPEED LIMIT ON SHERMAN DRIVE SHALL HEREAFTER BE 50 MPH from north City Limits to center line of Buckingham Drive, 45 MPH from center line of Buckingham Drive to center line of Edinburgh Drive, 40 MPH from center line of Edinburgh Drive to 300 feet north of Stuart Road, 35 MPH from 300 feet north of Stuart Road to 300 feet north of Bell Avenue, 30 MPH from 300 feet north of Bell Avenue to center line of Locust Street SECTION II That anyone exceeding this speed limit when posted, without legal excuse, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and a violation of any provision of this ordinance shall be punished by a fine upon conviction of any amount not exceeding Two Hundred ($200 00) Dollars SECTION III That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in force when the provisions of this ordinance become effective which are inconsistent or in conflict with the terms or provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of any such conflict SECTION IV That if any section~ subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause, word or phrase of this ordinance, or application thereof to any person or circumstances, are held invalid by any court of competent Jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the validity of the re- maining portions of this ordinance, and the City Council of the City of Denton~ Texas, hereby declares it would have enacted such remain- ing portions in spite of any such invalidity SECTION V That this ordinance shall become effective fourteen (14) days from the date of its passage, and the City Secretary is hereby directed to cause the caption of this ordinance to be published in the Denton Record-Chronicle with ten (10) days of the date of its passage PASSED AND APPROVED this the 25th day of July, A D 1972 BILL NEU, MAYOR CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS ATTEST (F BR~%K~' hOLT, CITY SECRE C%T~ OF DENTON, TEXAS APPROVED jL~O LEGAL FORM W RALPH M~N, CITY ATTORNEY CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS
