1972-018 ORDINANCE NO 72-~ ORDINANCE CANVASSING ELECTION RETURNS THE STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF DENTON CITY OF DENTON WHEREAS, the C~ty Council of said City duly ordered an election to be keld in sa~d City on the 16th day of May, 1972, on the PROPOSITIONS hereinafter stated, and ~REAS, sa~d C~ty Council kas ~nvest~gated all matters pertaining to sa~d eleet~on, anclud~ng the orderang, g~vlng not~ce, offacers, holding, and making returns of said elect~on, and WHEREAS, the electaon offlcers who held said election have duly made the returns of the result thereof, and said re- turns have been duly dellvered to sa~d City Council, and WHEREAS, it ls hereby offacaally found and determined that a case of emergency or urgent public necessaty exists which requires the holding of the meeting at whach th~s Ordinance ~s passed, such emergency or urgent public necessity being that the proceeds from the sale of the proposed bonds are required as soon as possable and without delay for necessary and urgently needed public improvements, and that saad meeting was open to the public, and public notace of the tame, place, and purpose of saad meeting was given, all as required by Vernon's Ann Clv St Article 6252-17 THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS 1 That the Caty Council offaclally finds and deter- manes that said election was duly ordered, that proper notice of said election was duly given, that proper election offacers were duly appointed praor to saad election, that saad election was duly held, that due returns of the result of said election have been made and delavered, and that the City Council has duly can- vassed saad returns, all in accordance with law and the Ordinance calling said electaon 2 That the City Council officially finds and deter- mines that only resident, qualified electors of said City were allowed to vote at sa~d elect~on, and that the following votes were cast at said electaon on each submitted PROPOSITION PROPOSITION NO 1 1,718 VOTES FOR ) ) THE ISSUANCE OF $5,275,000 OF ) WATERWORKS SYSTEM REVENUE BONDS 698 VOTES AGAINST ) PROPOSITION NO 2 1,695 VOTES FOR ) ) THE ISSUANCE OF $5,725,000 OF ) SEWER SYSTEM REVENUE BONDS 720 VOTES AGAINST ) 3 That the C~ty Council officially f~nds, deter- manes, and declares the result of sa~d electaon to be that each PROPOSITION so submltted has received a favorable majority vote and has carried, and that the aforesaid bonds may be issued in accordance with law CERTIFICATE FOR ORDI~ NCE CANVASSING ELECTION REm RNS THE STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF DENTON CITY OF DENTON We, the undersigned officers of sa~d C~ty, hereby certify as follows 1 The C~ty Council of said City convened in ~C~ MEETING ON THE ~3 DAY OF MAY, 1972 at the Munlclpal Building (City Hall), and the roll was called of the duly constituted officers and members of said City Council, to-Wit Brooks Holt, C~ty Secretary Ball Neu, Mayor Bob Chambers Tom D Jester, Jr Harold L Ramey Hugh M Ayer and all of sa~d persons were present, except the followlng absentees , thus constituting a quorunL ~]ereupon, among ot~er business, the following was transacted at said Meeting a written ORDINANCE CANVASSING ELECTION RETURNS was duly ~ntroduced for the consideration of sa~d City Council and read in full it was then duly moved and seconded that said Ordinance be passed, and, after due discussion, said motion, carrying with it the passage of sa~d Ordinance, prevailed and carried by the following vote AYESAil members of said City Council shown present above voted "Aye" NOES None 2 That a true, full, and correct copy of the aforesaid Ordinance passed at the Meeting described an the above and fore- going paragraph Ks attached to and follows this Certificate, that sa~d Ordinance has been duly recorded an sa~d City Council's minutes of said Meeting, that the above and foregoing paragraph is a true, full, and correct excerpt from said C~ty Council's minutes of said Meeting pertaining to the passage of said Ordi- nance, that the persons named in the above and foregoing paragraph are the duly chosen, qualified, and acting officers and members of said City Council as indicated there~n, that each of the officers and members of said C~ty Council was duly and sufficiently noti- fied officially and personally, an advance, of the time, place, and purpose of the aforesaid Meeting, and that said Ordinance would be introduced and considered for passage at said Meeting, and each of said officers and members consented, an advance, to the holding of said Meeting for such purpose, and that sa~d Meet- · ng was open
