1972-010AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING ELECTION RETURNS OF ELECTION HELD APRIL
4, 1972, TO ELECT TWO CITY COUNCILMEN
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I
That the City Council officially finds and determines that
an election was duly ordered to be held an the C~ty of Denton on
the 4th day of April, 1972, for the purpose of electing two (2)
members to sa~d Council; that proper notice of said election was
duly given, that proper election officers were duly appointed
prior to said election, that said election was duly held, that
due returns of the result of said election have been made and de-
livered, and that the City Council has duly canvassed said returns,
all in accordance with law
SECTION II
That the City Council officially finds and determines that
only resident qualified electors of said C~ty were allowed to
vote at said election, and the following votes were cast at sa~d
election for each candidate and write-in, there being no other
person recelv&ng any votes at th~s election
Tom D Jester, Jr 1951 votes
David M Nichols 909 votes
Bill Brlsco 335 votes
Bill Fltz 373 votes
John T Shackelford 438 votes
Robert W Chambers 1373 votes
Rlchard D Rogers 505 votes
SECTION III
That the City Council officially f~nds, determines and de-
clares the results of said elect~on to be that Tom D Jester, Jr
and Robert W Chambers have each received the proper number of votes
to be elected, and that each of them is elected to sa~d Council ~n
accordance with law

duly passed by the Caty Councal of saad City at a special
meeting held at the regular meetang place on the 10th day of
Apral, 1972, whach ordanance has been duly recorded ~n the
m~nutes of saad C~ty Councal
2 The following are the members and offacers of saad
City Councal

Ball Neu Mayor Pro-Tem
Dr Hugh M Ayer Councalman
Dr Robert W Chambers Councilman

and all saad persons were present at the time of passage of
said ordanance except the followang absentees
3 That said ordanance was antroduced for the consade-
ratmon of saad City Councal by ats presadang officer and read
in full, and upon motaon duly made and seconded, sa~d ordin-
ance was passed by the followmng vote

¢ouncal was duly and suffacaently notafaed off~caally and per-
sonally, an advance, of the time, place~ and purpose of the
aforesaid meeting, and each of saad members and offacers con-
sented mn advance to the holding of the samd meeting for such

5 That the City Attorney of said C~ty has approved
sa~d ordinance, that the Mayor and C~ty Secretary of sa~d C~ty
have d~ly sagned saad ordinance, and that sa~d Ordinance was
duly enacted
