AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING PARKING ALONG CERTAIN PORTION5 OF BELL
AVENUE AND BLOUNT STREET, PROVIDING A PENALTY, DECLARING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I
That Blount Street (same being an extension of Bell Avenue/
from East HcKlnney Avenue north to BEll Avenue, and Bell Avenue
from such ~ntersect~on north to University Drive, shall not be
used for the parking of vehicles or in any manner obstructed,
and same shall be so posted by the proper authorities of the C~ty
of Denton, save and except those areas adjacent to Bell Avenue
which are presently designated for head-in or angle parking, and
which areas lie ~n whole or ~n part without the street r~ght of
way, and sa~d areas shall be as posted
It is the intent of th~s ordinance to re-establish this
portion of Bell Avenue as a four lane thorofare, for which it
was originally designed, to facilitate the proper movement of
traffic, and to promote maximum safety for pedestrians and
vehicles
SECTION II
That i~ any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence,
clause, phrase or word ~n th~s ordinance, or application there-
of to any person or circumstances, is held lnval3d by any Court
of competent jurlsd~ct3on, such holding shall not affect the
val3dity of the remaining port3ons of this ordinance, and the
C~ty Counc31 of the City of Denton, Texas, hereby declares it
would have enacted such rema3ning port3ons despite any such
lnvalid3ty
SECTION III
Section 1-5 of the Code of the City of Denton 3s incor-
porated into the ordinance as 3f set out in full here~n, and
the penalty by f3ne not to exceed $200 OO is applicable hereto,
and it is hereby declared unlawful to park any vehicle on such
portions of Bell Avenue and Blount Street as are posted or
marked as no parking zones
SECTION IV
That this ordinance shall become effective two weeks from
the date of Its passage, and the City Secretary is hereby direct-
ed to cause the caption of this ordinance to be published twice
~n the Denton Record-Chronicle, the official newspaper of the
City of Denton, Texas, within slx (6) days of the date of its
passage
