AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS,
BY REMOVING CERTAIN REQUIREMENTS FOR OBTAINING A DOG LICENSE,
REDUCING THE LICENSE FEE, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I
That the Code of the City of Denton, Texas, is hereby
amended by substituting new Sections 4-42 and 4-43 ~n Article
III, Chapter 4, of sa~d Code, which Sections shall hereafter
read as follows
SECTION 4-42 Issuance of L~cense
Upon payment of the fee as provided ~n Section
4-43, below, the D~rector of F~nance shall then
issue a l~cense for such dog provided that there
be exhibited to the D~rector of F~nance a Certi-
ficate signed by a legally l~censed veterinarian
reflecting that such dog has been duly vaccinated
against rabies and g~vlng the date of the vaccin-
ation thereof, and provided that sa~d Certificate
shall indicate a vaccination date within eleven
months of said application, and all C~ty licenses
shall expire within a period not to exceed fourteen
months from the date of last vaccination Tags
may be ~ssued by the Director of Finance on a part
year, pro-rata basis
SECTION 4-43 Fee and Term of L~cense
The fee for such license shall be $1 O0 per year
for each dog, payable ~n advance, for all l~censes
issued for a period of one year L~censes issued
for portions of years may be pro-rated on a quarter
year basis at the discretion of the Director of
F~nance All licenses issued hereunder shall expire
at the end of the calendar month indicated on the
license A revacc~nat~on of each dog licensed here-
under must be made on or before expiration of the
l~cense ~ssued, which vaccination shall be evidenced
by a Certificate s~gned as above indicated, which
Certificate shall be d~splayed to the Director of
Finance for the ~ssuance of a new and current l~cense
by the C~ty
SECTION II
That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in force when
the provisions of th~s ordinance become effective which are
inconsistent or ~n conflict with the terms or provisions con-
tained herein are hereby r?ealed to the extent of such con-
fllct, Section 4-42 and 4 43 of the existing code are hereby
expressly repealed ~n their entirety being supplanted by the
foregoing
SECTION III
That if any section, subsection, paragraph, clause, phrase
or word of this ordinance, or application thereof to any person
or circumsiances, is held invalid by any court of competent
jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the validity of
the remaining portions of this ordinance, and the City Council
of thelCity of Denton, Texas, hereby declares it would have
enacted such remaining portions despite any such invalidity
SECTION IV,
That this ordinance shall become and be effective immedi-
ately upon its passage and approval, and the C~ty Secretary is
herebyldirected to cause the caption of this ordinance to be
:ubl~shed one time in the Denton Record-Chronicle within ten
ays o~ the date of its passage
