AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING PARKING ALONG CERTAIN PORTIONS OF BELL
AVENUE, PROVIDING A PENALTY, DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I
That Blount Street (same being an extension of Bell
Avenue) from East McKinney Avenue north to BELL Avenue, and the
East side of Bell Avenue from such intersection north to Univer-
sity Drive, shall not be used for the parking of vehicles or in
any manner obstructed~ and same shall be so posted by the proper
authorities of the City of Denton, save and except those areas
adjacent to Bell Avenue which are presently designated for head-
in or angle parking, and which areas lie in whole or in part with-
out the street right of way, and said areas shall be as posted
It is the intent of this ordinance to facilitate the
proper movement of traffic, and to promote maximum safety for
pedestrians and vehicles
SECTION II
That Ordinance number 68-33 heretofore passed and app-
roved on the 22nd day of October, 1968, is hereby repealed and
s~perseded by this ordinance
SECTION III
That if any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence,
clause, phrase or word in this ordinance, or application thereof
to any person or circumstances, is hel~ invalid by any Court of
competent Jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the validity
of the remaining portions of this ordinance, and the City Council
of the City of Denton, Texas, hereby declares it would have
enacted such remaining portions despite any such invalidity
SECTION IV
Section 1-5 of the Code of the City of Denton is in-
corporated into this ordinance as if set out in full herein, and
the penalty by fine not to exceed $200 00 is applicable hereto,
and it is hereby declared unlawful to park any vehicle on such
portions of Bell Avenue and Blount Street as are posted or marked
as no parking zones
SECTION V
That this ordinance shall become effective fourteen
(14) days from the date of its passage, and the City Secretary
is directed to publish the caption hereof twice in the Denton
Record-Chronicle, the official newspaper of the City of Denton,
Texas, within ten (10) days of the date of its passage
