030419 Press Release - 2-Alarm Fire (March 2019) 4`( FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DENTON Jason Eddington • (940) 349-8848 • Jason.eddington@cityofdenton.com Denton Fire/Rescue Battles 2-Alarm Fire DENTON, TX, March 4, 2019—The Denton Fire/Rescue Department was dispatched to the Providence Place apartments (2551 Stockbridge Rd.) today at 6:36 a.m. in response to a structure fire. After arriving on scene and seeing smoke in one of the apartment breezeways, crews called for a second alarm. Residents of 24 units were evacuated and a DCTA bus was stationed nearby to keep displaced residents out of the cold weather. Once the fire was extinguished, 12 units were reopened to the occupants. The Red Cross and apartment management are working together to identify temporary housing for impacted residents. No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
