Notice of Public Meeting for Community Input Workshop
North Lakes Recreation Center, May 18 at 11:30 a.m.
DENTON, TX,May 6,2019—The City of Denton Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a
workshop for public input that will be used to help develop a new Parks, Recreation, and Trails
Master Plan.
The public meeting will be held on Saturday, May 18 at 11:30 a.m. in Community Room A at
North Lakes Recreation Center, 2001 W. Windsor Dr.
The purpose of this workshop is to provide an opportunity for the community to engage in seven
different visual and interactive "Pick, Stick, and Play" stations designed to receive input on the
following areas of parks, recreation, and trails:
Station#1 Types of Facilities I skate park, bike park, splash pad, etc.
Station#2 Types of Recreation Center I indoor track, gymnasium, indoor playground, etc.
Station#3 Types of Programming I aquatics, camps, sports leagues, classes, etc.
Station#4 Types of Furnishings I water fountains, restrooms, shade structures, etc.
Station#5 Types of Trails and Open Space I soft trails, tree preserves, etc.
Station#6 Types of Parks I mixed-use parks, nature parks, inclusive parks, etc.
Station#7 Types of Technology I park Wi-Fi, solar charging stations, GIS apps, etc.
Staff representatives from the Parks and Recreation Department will be on site to facilitate this
collaborative process, receive input, and answer questions to increase the department's
understanding of what the community wants for new developments that could be considered as
part of the future master plan.
