DENTON ANIMAL SHELTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEEETING
Minutes from March 13, 2018
PRESENT: Nanci Kimmey, Paul O’Neill, Lt. Hildebrand, Kathleen Duffy
ABSENT: Dr. Angie Paben, Anne Sullivan, Charles Hunter
I. Called to Order
The meeting was called to order by Nanci Kimmey at 11:35 a.m.
II. Approval of December 17, 2017 Minutes
Motion was made by Lt. Hildebrand to approve minutes as reviewed; seconded by Nanci
Kimmey and approved.
III. Review of Denton Animal Shelter Reports – Paul O’Neill
A. Staff Positions – Fully Staffed. The new hire Daniel Solis is now state certified. They have
requested new ACO positions for the next fiscal year.
B. Kennel Reports - Case Statistics from 10-1-2017 to 03-12-2018 . Live release rate has been
around 90.5% , goal is at least 85%. Average stay for the animals at the shelter is two to
three weeks.
C. Community Events – Events scheduled in March include: March 15 Panera will donate a
percentage of their sales in the evening; Honda of Denton will be at the shelter on March 24
to donate food.
D. Volunteer Hours – They are now tracking the volunteer hours; 4,000 hours would equal
equivalent of two employees.
V. Old Business – Lt. Hildebrand & Paul O’Neill
A. Status on wheels for the stainless steel kennels in the stray hold area.
B. Still working on revision for foster care agreement
VI. New Business – Lt. Hildebrand & Paul O’Neill
A. Reconfiguration and installation of new kennels in Isolation area.
B. RFP for RSVP as of March 27, 2018.
VII. Adjourned
Meeting was adjourned at 12:30 p.m.
