070520 Press Release - City Facility Openings Update CITY FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DENTON Ryan Adams • (940) 349-8565 • Ryan.Adams@cityofdenton.com City of Denton Updates Facility Openings Changes Reflect the Impact of the Rise in Local COVID-19 Cases DENTON, TX, July 5, 2020—In a response to the rise in local COVID-19 cases, the City of Denton has modified the extent to which its facilities are open to the public. These changes not only help to reduce the possible risk of COVID transmission within City facilities, but to also support the continuity of services in the event City staff are significantly impacted by the virus. In a related measure, City employees, where possible, will practice telecommuting as a preventative measure. Additionally, consistent with Governor Abbott's Executive Order GA-29, all persons entering a City facility will be required to wear a face covering unless they are exempted under GA-29. The following facilities changes will continue until further notice: City Hall—Beginning July 6, Denton City Hall will be open to the public by appointment only. This includes the City Secretary's Office, City Manager's Office, and Development Services. City Hall East—Beginning July 6, the majority of City Hall East offices will remain closed to the public. The Municipal Court and Customer Service offices will remain open; however, in- person access to the Municipal Court and Customer Service lobbies may be limited to reduce crowding. Utility customers will continue to have the ability to pay their utility bill by phone, by mail, by drop box, and online at www.cityofdenton.com/paymybil . To speak with a Customer Service representative over the phone, customers should call(940) 349-8700. To speak with a Court Clerk over the phone, call(940) 349-8331. Police HQ Lobby - The front lobby of the Denton Police Department will be closed until further notice. Fingerprinting services and solicitor permit processing are currently unavailable. Residents are urged to call (940) 349-8173 for all non-emergency situations where a report could be taken over the phone or submit a police report online at www.cityofdenton.com/policereport. To schedule an appointment for property pickup, please call 940-349-8181. In an emergency, call 911. Denton Public Library—Walk-in access to the North Branch library is suspended. Parks and Recreation Facilities—The Goldfield Tennis Center is still open for general play, but contracted tennis programs are suspended until July 14, or until further notice. The North Lakes Recreation Center remains open; however, access may be limited to workout facilities to ensure sufficient social distancing between patrons. Denton Landfill - The City of Denton Landfill will continue to be open to customers during its normal business hours. Currently, only credit and debit cards are being accepted. Animal Services—The Linda McNatt Animal Care and adoption Center will continue to be open to the public by appointment only. Customers can schedule an appointment 24 hours in advance by contacting Animal Services at (940) 349-7594.
