Fire Driver - IB0010 - FIRE OPERATIONS City of Denton Job Description Title: Fire Driver Position ID: IB0010 Department/Division: Fire / Operations Report to: Fire Captain FLSA Designation: Non-Exempt Definition: Protects life and property by performing firefighting, emergency medical services, hazardous materials and rescue duties. Operates all fire and medical apparatus. Essential Functions: Agility and strength to perform prolonged and arduous work under adverse conditions Cleans and performs general maintenance of fire apparatus and stations Responds and operates vehicle to emergency calls Operates pump and all equipment May perform all duties of a fire fighter position Participates in Fire and EMS training, both in field and classroom Participates in company fire inspections, pre-fire planning, and public fire education Exhibits ability to get along with customers and co-workers Maintains a job skill level capable of performing at the next higher rank Regular and punctual attendance Additional Duties: Performs other duties as assigned Performs tasks of next highest rank Minimum Qualifications / Acceptable Equivalency: High School diploma or GED equivalent AND Texas Commission on Fire Protection Basic Firefighter Certification AND Texas Department of State Health Services EMT- Paramedic Certification AND Texas Commission on Fire Protection Driver Operator-Pumper Certification AND Successful completion of the Denton Fire Department Driver’s School AND Three years in rank of firefighter for the City of Denton Conditions of Employment: Maintain a Texas Commission on Fire Protection Basic Firefighter Certification Maintain a Texas Department of State Health Services EMT- Paramedic Certification Possess a valid Class B Texas driver’s license, or approved state equivalent All Civil service requirements Must pass a drug test, driver’s license check Must be able to work overtime when requested Preferences: None listed Physical Requirements: Overall Strength Demands: The italicized word describes the overall strength demand of the functions performed by the incumbent during a typical workday.
