090220 Press Release - Green Tree Estates Declaration of Disaster IOV FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DENTON Ryan Adams • (940) 349-8565 • Ryan.Adams@cityofdenton.com Council Extends Declaration of Local Disaster for Green Tree Estates Neighborhood City Will Continue to Provide Temporary Water Service to Neighborhood Through Sept. 15 DENTON, TX, Sept. 2, 2020—Following the expiration of the previous declaration of local disaster for Green Tree Estates on Aug. 31, Mayor Chris Watts signed a new declaration of local disaster for public health emergency on Tuesday, Sept. 1, for the Green Tree Estates neighborhood. At the City Council meeting later that day, the Denton City Council voted to extend the declaration through Tuesday, Sept. 15. Under the declaration of local disaster, the City of Denton has authority to: • Continue providing temporary water service to the Green Tree Estates neighborhood through Tuesday. Sept. 15; and • Provide the City Manager authority to expend up to $10,000 for disaster response activities. The extension was requested by neighborhood members to allow additional time to connect Green Tree Estates properties to the City of Denton water system.
