Parks and Rec CITY City of Denton DENTON Job Description Title: Student Aide (Mayor's Summer Youth Program) — Parks & Rec Position ID: SA0002 Department/Division: Parks and Recreation Reports to: Parks Program Area Manager FLSA Designation: Non-Exempt Safety Sensitive: No DOT: No Definition: Responsible for various aspects of daily operations at recreation facilities and assisting with summer camps. Essential Functions: • Greeting guests and informing guests of facility policies and general information • Answering guests questions and directing guests • Cleaning the workstation and surrounding areas • Assist with stocking supplies • Assist with daily operations of recreation facility or summer camps • Making guest service and satisfaction a priority in every aspect of their job • Administrative duties such as filling and completing paperwork Additional Duties: • May receive food handling training and take test for Food Handler's Certification • Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications / Acceptable Equivalency: • Must be enrolled in High School or equivalent or a recent graduate • Must be between the ages of 16 to 21 years of age Core Competencies: • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing • Ability to form and maintain effective relationships with coworkers and customers • Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance • Ability to interact with customers professionally • Ability to present a professional appearance Conditions of Employment: • Must be a resident of the City of Denton • Must pass a drug test, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check Job Description Template — Job Code Page 2 of 3 • Must be able to work on a rotating schedule seven (7) days and up to 40 hours per week during the Summer. Preferences: • Previous customer service experience • Able to work on weekends. Environmental Factors: The essential functions of this position are performed outside located at the entrance to Water Works Park and may involve standing for long periods of time outdoors in 90-105 degree heat.
