Sustainability CITY City of Denton DENTON Job Description Title: Student Aide (Mayor's Summer Youth Program) — Sustainability Position ID: SA0002 Department/Division: Utilities Reports to: Sustainability & Customer Initiatives Manager FLSA Designation: Non-Exempt Safety Sensitive: No DOT: No Definition: Responsible for providing direct support to Sustainability Department. Essential Functions: • Create fliers for various workshops and upcoming events using Canva • Attend and assist with workshops, volunteer events and outreach events (including tours, tabling and presentations) hosted by the Sustainability Department • Engage with citizens in order to educate them about the Sustainability Department • Update database with sign-in sheet information • Take photos at events • Assist with the development and implementation of programs including: Monarch City USA, Bee City USA, Learn 2 Conserve, Sustainability Workshops, Denton Sustainable Schools and Recycling Education. • Assist with programs and maintenance at Clear Creek Natural Heritage Center • Regular and punctual attendance • Professional appearance required Additional Duties: • Inventory and store materials for Denton Sustainable Schools • Update or create databases that could be used for outreach • Implement Surveys or research for Sustainability or Clear Creek • Assist with the development and implementation of Green Team and Green Business • Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications / Acceptable Equivalency: • Must be enrolled in High School or equivalent or a recent graduate • Must be between the ages of 16 to 21 years of age Core Competencies: • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing • Ability to form and maintain effective relationships with coworkers and customers • Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance • Ability to interact with customers professionally Job Description Template — Job Code Page 2 of 3 Ability to remain productive while performing daily tasks Conditions of Employment: • Must be a resident of the City of Denton • Must pass a drug test, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check Must be able to work Monday through Friday (15-20 hours per week) Preferences: Knowledge of standard office programs, such as Microsoft Office.
