Hileman's departure from the City of Denton comes after four years of dedicated service. His last day with the City will be February 28. "Four years ago, I came to Denton because I found a challenging opportunity with an organization that I simply could not pass up. I saw an organization that had been through some very difficult times and believed that I could provide some stability and leadership to move things forward. And,just like four years ago, I have found another rare opportunity that will allow me to continue to grow professionally and serve a community that faces its own unique challenges," said Hileman. Hileman has worked in city management for over 25 years and joined the City of Denton as City Manager in January of 2017. During his tenure, Hileman has emphasized customer and resident- focused services while building facilities, IT infrastructure, and equipment have been modernized. Additionally, Hileman worked to create more efficient operations and workflows while growing the City's leadership capacity, particularly on cultivating talent from within the organization. Hileman led the City as it adjusted to the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, further emphasizing transparency, communication, and a resident-first service model. During this time, core services continued and, in some areas, grew by deploying technology, rapidly setting up protocols and policies, and remaining responsive to the community's needs and concerns. Hileman's leadership and guidance has been invaluable and the City Staff and Council wish him luck in his new role. "The Denton City Council wishes City Manager Hileman and his family the best. Thank you for your service, Todd. I am grateful for everything," said Mayor Gerard Hudspeth. The appointment of an interim and search for a new city manager will be led by the Denton City Council.
