AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A SPONSORSHIP IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
$10,000.00 OF IN-KIND SERVICES FOR THE THIRD ANNUAL SUSAN G. KOMEN FOR
THE CURE, NORTH TEXAS, TO BE HELD IN SOUTH LAKES PARK AND THE
SUROUNDING NEIGHBORHOODS ON SEPTEMBER 28, 2013; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, North Texas, is requesting the City of
Denton to participate as a sponsor, at the same level as in previous years, for the event to be held
in South Lalces Park and the surrounding neighborhoods on September 28, 2013; and
WHEREAS, the City of Denton has sponsored up to $10,000.00 of in-kind services for
the 2011 and 2012 events which included Police and Fire/EMS support, rental of South Lalces
Parlc and the provision of barricades for street closures; and
WHEREAS, in exchange for the said support the City of Denton was considered to be an
event sponsor of the said event at a sponsorship level equal to the value of the in-kind service
tendered; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it is in the public interest and benefit to the
citizens of the City of Denton to participate as a sponsor at a level not to exceed $10,000.00 of
in-kind services for the event to be held in South Lakes Park and the surrounding neighborhoods
on September 28, 2013; NOW, THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION l. The City Council finds that it is in the public interest and benefit to the
citizens of the City of Denton to participate as a sponsor at a level not to exceed $10,000.00 of
in-kind services, including but not limited to Police and Fire/EMS support, rental of South Lalces
Park and the provision of barricades for street closures and the said participation is hereby
approved.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its passage and
approval.
