ORDINANCE NO. 2015 -038
AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CITY SPONSORSHIP IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO
EXCEED $17,500 OF IN -KIND SERVICES FOR THE 17TH ANNUAL BLUES FESTIVAL
TO BE HELD IN QUAKERTOWN PARK ON SEPTEMBER 19 -20, 2015; AND PROVIDING
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Blues Festival, is requesting the City of Denton to participate as a
sponsor, at the same level as in previous years, for the event to be held in Quakertown Park on
September 19 -20, 2015; and
WHEREAS, the City of Denton has sponsored up to $15,000 of in -kind services for the
2013 and 2014 events which included police, rental of the park, park staff and the use of park
equipment; and
WHEREAS, in exchange for the said support the City of Denton was considered to be an
event sponsor of the said event at a sponsorship level equal to the value of the in -kind service
tendered; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it is in the public interest and benefit to the
citizens of the City of Denton to participate as a sponsor at a level not to exceed $17,500 of in-
kind services for the event to be held in Quakertown Park on September 19 -20, 2015; NOW,
THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. The City Council finds that it is in the public interest and benefit to the
citizens of the City of Denton to participate as a sponsor at a level not to exceed $17,500 of in-
kind services, including but not limited to police, rental of the park, park staff and the use of park
equipment and the said participation is hereby approved.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its passage and
approval.
