ORDINANCE NO. 2�15-3g7
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2-30 OF THE CITY OF DENTON CODE OF
ORDINANCES BY DELETING SECTION 2-30 IN ITS ENTIRETY; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Denton Code of Ordinances prohibits, in Section 2-30, the
improper disclosure of coniidential information; and
WHEREAS, the City Ethics Committee has, after careful consideration, recommended that
Section 2-30 be amended by elimination of criminal penalties and re-definition of the term
"confidential governmental information;" and
WHEREAS, however, at its December 15, 2015 Regular Meeting, the City Council has
determined that repealing the entire Section 2-30 will better serve the public interest than the
changes recommended by the City Ethics Committee; NOW, THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS:
SEC"l'lON 1. Section 2-30 of the City of Denton Code of Ordinances is hereby deleted in
its entirety.
S�aC.`"i"�ON 2. This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage and
approval.
