AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO.
2015-230, PRESCRIBING THE NUMBER OF POSITIONS IN EACH CLASSIFICATION OF
POLICE OFFICER; PROVIDING REPEALER CLAUSE; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, on August 4, 2015, the City Council passed Ordinance No. 2015-230,
adopting and appraving a schedule of Autharized Positions relatirig to campensatian and
classiiication of palice afficers and fire fighters� and
WHEREAS, since the passage of Ordinance No. 2015-230 the Police Department has
determined that this ardinance needs to be amended to more correctly reflect the total number of
Police Department positions; and
WHEREAS, the City Cauncil has considered these updated classification titles and
numbers and has found these changes to be in the City's best interest and accordingly has
determined that Ordinance Na. 2015-230 should be amended to reflect the revised classificatian
titles and total number of Police Department positions; NOW, THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. Ordinance Na. 2015-230 is hereby amended as provided herein.
SECTION 2. The City Council hereby adapts and approves a schedule prescribing the
number of positions for each classifications of police afficer in the City of Denton, far FY 2016-
2017, as shown in the chart attached hereto and incorporated by reference herein as Exhibit "A. °'
�1;�"'f"ION 3. This ardinance shall be cumulative of all provisians of ordinances af the City

af Dentan, Texas, except where the provisians af the ordinance are in direct conflict with the
provisions of such ardinances, in which event the canflicting pravisions of such ordinances are
hereby repealed.
����' I lt)�v� �. It is hereby declared to be the intention of the City Couneil that the phrases,
clauses, sentences, paragraphs, and sectians of this ardinance are severable, and if any phrase,
clause sentence, paragraph or section of this ordinance shall be declared unconstitutional by the
valid judgment or decree of any court of campetent jurisdiction, such unconstitutionality shall not
affect any of the rernaining phrases, clauses, sentences, paragraphs and sections of this ordinance,
since the same wauld have been enacted by the City Cauncil without the incorporation in this
ordinance of any such unconstitutianal phrase, clause, sentence, paragraph or section.
Sectian 5. This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage and
approval as pravided by law.
