AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CITY SPONSORSHIP IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO
EXCEED $3,500 OF IN-KIND SERVICES AND RESOURCES FOR THE BACKING THE
BLUE-DENTON EVENT TO BE HELD AT THE CIVIC CENTER AT 321 E. MCKINNEY
ST., SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 18,2017; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Backing the Blue -Denton is requesting the City of Denton to participate
as a sponsor, up to $3,500 of in-kind services and resources, for the Back the Blue -Denton event
to provide assistance for Denton County Law Enforcement agencies fallen and injured officers
and their families to be held in the Civic Center on Saturday, November 18, 2017; and
WHEREAS, the City of Denton has previously sponsored up to $1,400 of in-kind
services and resources for the event by waiving the Civic Center rental fees; and
WHEREAS, in exchange for the said support the City of Denton was considered to be an
event sponsor of the said event at a sponsorship level equal to the value of the in-kind service
tendered; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it is in the public interest and benefit to the
citizens of the City of Denton to participate as a sponsor at a level not to exceed $3,500 of in-
kind services and resources for the event to be held in the Civic Center on Saturday, November
18,2017; NOW, THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS;
SECTION 1. The City Council finds that it is in the public interest and benefit to the
citizens of the City of Denton to participate as a sponsor at a level not to exceed $3,500.00 of in-
kind services and resources, waiving the Civic Center rental fees, and the said participation is
hereby approved.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its passage and
approval.
