2017-332s\legal\our documents\ordinances\17\turkey trot sponsorshlp.doc ORDINANCE NO. 2017-332 AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CITY SPONSORSHIP IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $4,370 OF IN-KIND SERVICES AND RESOURCES FOR THE 3RD ANNUAL TURKEY TROT TO BE HELD IN DOWNTOWN DENTON ON THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 23,2017; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Denton Area Running Club ("DARC") is requesting the City of Denton to participate as a sponsor, up to $4,370 of in-kind services and resources, for the 3rd Annual Downtown Denton Turkey Trot event to promote health and wellness through running and runner/pedestrian safety to be held in Downtown Denton on Thursday, November 23, 2017; and WHEREAS, the City of Denton has previously sponsored up to $3,090 of in-kind services and resources for the event by waiving police, fire/EMS support, and rental of the Williams Square parking lot fees; and WHEREAS, in exchange for the said support, the City of Denton was considered to be an event sponsor for the event at a sponsorship level equal to the value of the in-kind services tendered; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it is in the public interest and benefit to the citizens of the City of Denton to participate as a sponsor at a level not to exceed $4,370 of in- kind services and resources for the event to be held in Downtown Denton on Thursday, November 23, 2017; NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS: SECTION 1. The City Council finds that it is in the public interest and benefit to the citizens of the City of Denton to participate as a sponsor at a level not to exceed $4,370 of in- kind services and resources, waiving police, fire/EMS support, rental of the Williams Square parking lot, and event permit fees, and the said participation is hereby approved. SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its passage and approval. PASSED AND APPROVED this the 'Z day of _vL , iT 2017.
