ORDINANCE NO, 2017-333
AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CITY SPONSORSHIP IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO
EXCEED $5,300 OF IN-KIND SERVICES AND RESOURCES FOR THE 29th ANNUAL
DENTON HOLIDAY LIGHTING FESTIVAL TO BE HELD ON THE DOWNTOWN SQUARE
ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 1, 2017; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Denton Holiday Lighting Festival is requesting the City of Denton to
participate as a sponsor for the event to be held on the Downtown Square on December 1, 2017;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Denton has previously sponsored up to $6,000.00 of in-kind
services and resources for the event which included police, park staff, and the use of park
equipment, rental of barricades, tables, and chairs; and
WHEREAS, in exchange for the said support, the City of Denton was considered to be an
event sponsor of the said event at a sponsorship level equal to the value of the in-kind service
tendered; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it is in the public interest and benefit to the citizens
of the City of Denton to participate as a sponsor at a level not to exceed $5,300.00 of in-kind
services and resources for the event to be held on the Downtown Square on Friday, December 1,
2017; NOW, THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY OAINS:
SECTION 1. The City Council finds that it is in the public interest and benefit to the
citizens of the City of Denton to participate as a sponsor at a level not to exceed $5,300.00 of in-
kind services and resources, including but not limited to police, park staff, and the use of park
equipment, rental of barricades, tables, and chairs, and the said participation is hereby approved.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its passage and approval.
