ETHICS COMMITTEE
NOVEMBER 9, 2015
After determining that a quorum is present, the Ethics Committee of the City of Denton, Texas
will convene in a meeting on Monday, November 9, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. in the Legal-Accounting
Conference Room at City Hall, 215 E. McKinney Street, Denton, Texas at which the following
items will be considered:
Regular Meeting
1. Consider approval of the Ethics Committee Minutes of October 9, 2015.
Following the completion of the Regular Meeting, the Ethics Committee will convene in a Closed
Meeting to consider the following item:
Closed Meeting
1. Consultation with Attorneys – Under Texas Government Code section 551.071
A. Consultation with the City’s attorneys regarding legal issues associated with Section 2-30
of the City of Denton Code of Ordinances, provisions of the City of San Antonio Ethics
Code anticipated as a pattern for a City of Denton Ethics Ordinance, and local, state and
federal law and regulations related to ethics issues and regulation of the conduct of public
officials where a public discussion of these legal matters would conflict with the duty of
the City’s attorneys to the City of Denton and the Denton City Council under the Texas
Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct of the State Bar of Texas, or would jeopardize
the City’s legal position in any administrative proceeding or potential litigation.
Following completion of the Closed Meeting, the Ethics Committee will convene in a Work
Session to consider the following items:
1. Receive a report, hold a discussion, and provide staff direction relating to Section 2-30 of the
City of Denton Code of Ordinances as it concerns the use of confidential information.
2. Receive a report, hold a discussion, and provide staff direction concerning a City of Denton
Ethics Ordinance based on the City of San Antonio Ethics Code and further consider the impact
of local, state and federal law, regulations, and policy related to ethics issues and regulation of
the conduct of public officials.
