WHEREAS, the Tejas Storytelling Association is requesting the City of Denton to
participate as a sponsor, up to $5,080 of in-kind services and resources, for the 33rd Annual Texas
Storytelling Festival ta foster the appreciation of storytelling as an oral tradition, performing art,
and educational tool to be held in the Civic Center March 8-11, 2018; and

WHEREAS, in exchange for the said support, the City of Denton was considered to be an
event sponsor of the event at a sponsorship level equal to the value of the in-kind services tendered;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it is in the public interest and benefit to the citizens
of the City of Denton to participate as a sponsor at a level not to exceed $5,080 of in-kind services
for the event to be held in the Civic Center March 8-1 l, 2018; NOW, THEREFORE;

SECTION 2. The City Council finds that it is in the public interest and benefit to the
citizens of the City of Denton to participate as a sponsor of the 33rd Annual Texas Storytelling
Festival at a level not ta exceed $5,080 of in-lcind services and resources, waiving police overtime
and one-half of the Civic Center rental fee, and the said participation is hereby approved.
