ORDINANCE NO. 1$-39(
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON APPROVING A CITY SPONSORSHIP IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $15,200 OF IN-KIND SERVICES AND RESOURCES FOR THE
DENTON CINCO DE MAYO FESTIVAL ON SATURDAY, MAY 5, 20185, AT
QUAKERTOWN PARK; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Denton Cinco de Mayo committee is requesting the City of Denton to
participate as a sponsor for in-kind services and resources for the Denton Cinco de Mayo Festival
held in Quakertown Park on Saturday, May 5, 2018; and
WHEREAS, the City of Denton has previously sponsored up to $18,000 of in-kind services
and resources for the event which included staff, equipment, supplies, security, park maintenance
support, use of the Civic Center for the event; and
WHEREAS, in exchange for the said support the City of Denton was considered to be an
event sponsor of the said event at a sponsorship level equal to the value of the in-kind service
tendered; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it is in the public interest and benefit to the citizens
of the City of Denton to participate as a sponsor at a level not to exceed $15,200 of in-kind services
and resources for the event to be held in Quakertown Park Saturday, May 5, 2018; NOW,
THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. The City Council finds that it is in the public interest and benefit to the
citizens of the City of Denton to participate as a sponsor at a level not to exceed $15,2000 of in-
kind services and resources for waiving fees for staff, equipment, supplies, facilities, security, park
maintenance support, use of the Quakertown Park, for the event, and the said participation is
hereby approved.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its passage and approval.
