WHEREAS, the City of Denton has determined that the hame at 607 East College Street,
located between Vine Street and Frame Street, is worthy of the designatian of a local historic
landmark; and
WHEREAS, both the Historic Landmark Commissian and ihe Planning and Zoning
Cammissian have faund that 607 East Callege Street meets the following criteria far histaric
landmark designation as listed in Section 35.7.6.4.B af the Dentan Development Cade:
1. Character, interest ar value as part af the development, heritage, ar cultural
characteristics of the city, state ar the United States;
12. A building or structure that because of its location has become of value ta a
neighborhood, cammunity area or the city;
13, Value as an aspect af community sentiment or public pride.
WHEREAS, an May 14, 201$, the Historic Landmark Commission held a public meeting as
required by law, and upon conclusion recammended approval of the requested Historic Landmark
designatian; and
WHEREAS, on June 13, 2018, the Planning and Zaning Cammission held a public hearing
as required by law, and upon canclusion recammended by a vate of 6-0 appraval of the requested
Histaric Landmark designation; and
WHEREAS, an July 17, 2018 the City Council held a public hearing as required by law,
and upon conclusion recammended approval, finding that the request is consistent with Sectian
35.7.6 of the Develapment Cade; NOW, THEREFORE,

SECTION 2. That 607 East Callege Street, located between Vine Street and Frame Street,
legally knawn as Waadland Addn Blk 2 lot $, is hereby designated as a historic landmark under
Section 35.7.6 of the Denton Development Cade.
SECTION 3. The Property shall be indicated upan the zoning map of the City of Denton
as a histaric Landmark by appending the letter "H" to its existing zoning classification; the Property

shall be subject to all terms, provisions and requirements of Section 35.7.6 of the Denton
Development Code; and such designation shall be in addition to any other applicable use
designation established in the City's zoning ordinance.
SECTION 4e Any person violating any provision of this ordinance shall, upon conviction,
be iined a sum �not exceeding $2,000.00. Each day that a provision of this ordinance is violated
shall constitute a separate and distinct offense.
SECTION 5. The provisions of this ordinance are severable, and the invalidity of any phrase,
clause, or part of this ordinance shall not affect the validity or effectiveness of the remainder of the
ordinance.
SECTION 6. This ordinance shall become effective fourteen (14) days from the date of
its passage, and the City Secretary is hereby directed to cause the caption of this ordinance to
be published in the Denton Record-Chronicle, a daily newspaper published in the City of Denton,
Texas, within ten (10) days of the date of its passage,
