ORDINANCE NO. 18-1347
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON APPROVING A CITY SPONSORSHIP FOR
THE 2018 NORTH TEXAS STATE FAIR AND RODEO WHICH WILL BE HELD ON THE
NORTH TEXAS STATE FAIRGROUNDS IN DENTON, TEXAS FROM AUGUST 17, 2018
THROUGH AUGUST 25, 2018; PROVIDING IN-KIND SERVICES NOT TO EXCEED $1,000;
AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the North Texas State Fair and Rodeo Association ("NTSFRA"), a 501(c)(3)
non-profit organization, is requesting the City of Denton to participate as a sponsor in an amount
not to exceed $1,000 for in-kind services, specifically NTSFRA's use of one hundred twenty-five
traffic cones, for the 2018 North Texas State Fair and Rodeo held on North Texas State
Fairgrounds in Denton, Texas, from August 17-25, 2018, (hereafter referred to as "the Event");
and
WHEREAS, the City of Denton has previously approved a sponsorship in an amount not
to exceed $5,000 in expenditure funds for the Event; and
WHEREAS, in exchange for the additional support requested herein, the City of Denton
will be considered to be an event sponsor of the Event at a sponsorship level equal to the total
value of sponsorships provided; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it is in the public interest and benefit to the citizens
of the City of Denton to participate as a sponsor at a level not to exceed $1,000 for in-kind services
and resources, in addition to the sponsorship previously approved; NOW, THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. The findings set forth in the preamble of this ordinance are incorporated by
reference into the body of this Ordinance as if fully set forth herein.
SECTION 2. The City Council finds that it is in the public interest and benefit to the
citizens of the City of Denton to participate as a sponsor providing in-kind services and resources
for the Event.
SECTION 3. The City Council hereby authorizes and approves staff to participate and
provide in-kind services and resources, including the North Texas State Fair and Rodeo's use of
one hundred twenty-five traffic cones at the Event, at a level not to exceed $1,000.
ION 4, This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its passage and approval.
