AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, APPROVING A CITY SPONSORSHIP
IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $16,150 OF 1N-KIND SERVICES AND RESOURCES FOR
THE DENTON BLUES FESTIVAL ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, THROUGH SUNDAY,
SEPTEMBER 16, 2018, AT QUAKERTOWN PARK; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Denton Black Chamber of Commerce is requesting the City of
Denton to participate as a sponsor for in-kind services and resources for the Denton Blues Festival
held in Quakertown Park beginning September 14-16, 2018; and
WHEREAS, the City of Denton has previously sponsored up to $14,000 of in-kind services
and resources for the event which included staff, equipment, security, park maintenance support, use
of the Quakertown Park for the three-day event; and
WHEREAS, in exchange for additional support, the City of Denton will be considered
an event sponsor of the Denton Blues Festival at a sponsorship level equal to the total value of the
sponsorship provided herein; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it is in the public interest and benefit to the citizens
of the City of Denton to participate as a sponsor at a level not to exceed $16,150 of in-kind services
and resources for the event to be held in Quakertown Park, September 14-16, 2018; NOW,
THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. The City Council finds that it is in the public interest and benefit to the citizens
of the City of Denton to participate as a sponsor at a level not to exceed $16,150 of in-kind services
and resources for waiving fees for staff, equipment, security, paxk maintenance support, use of the
Quakertown Park for the three-day event, and participation as a sponsor is hereby approved.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its passage and
approval.
