18-1713S:Uegal\our documents\ ordinances\18\veterans coalition o�nvaNCE rro. 18-1713 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, APPROVING A CITY SPONSORSHIP 1N AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $2,500 OF IN-KIND SERVICES AND RESOURCES FOR THE DENTON COUNTY VETERANS COALITION STAND DOWN EVENT ON WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2018, AND THURSDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2018, AT DENTON CIVIC CENTER; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Denton County Veterans Coalition is requesting the City Council of the City of Denton to participate as a sponsor for in-kind services and resources for the Denton County Veterans Coalition Stand Down event held at Denton Civic Center, October 24-25, 2018; and WHEREAS, the purpose of the Denton County Veterans Coalition Stand Down event is to provide a variety of services, such as health screenings, access to community resources and a broad range of necessities, including as food, clothing, blankets, etc., to veterans. WHEREAS, the City of Denton has previously sponsored up to $3,000 of in-kind services and resources for the event, which included staff, security, use of the Quakertown Park, the Denton Civic Center rotunda, kitchen, and plaza for the event; and WHEREAS, in exchange for additional support, the City of Denton will be considered an event sponsor of the Denton County Veterans Coalition Stand Down event at a sponsorship level equal to the total value of the sponsorship provided herein; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Denton finds that it is in the public interest and benefit to the citizens of the City of Denton to participate as a sponsor at a level not to exceed $2,500 of in-kind services and resources for the event to be held at Denton Civic Center, October 24-25, 2018; NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINSµ SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Denton finds that it is in the public interest and benefit to the citizens of the City of Denton to participate as a sponsor at a level not to exceed $2,500 of in-kind services and resources for waiving fees for staff, security, use of Denton Civic Center for the event, and the said participation as a sponsor is hereby approved. SECTION 2m This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its passage and approval.
