I �• WHEREAS, pursuant ta Section 143.021, Texas Lacal Gavernment Cade, the City Council of the City af Denton, is required by ordinance to prescribe the number of positions in each classification for Fire Department personnel; and WHEREAS, an December 5, 2017, the City Council passed (3rdinance No. 2017-376, adopting and approving a schedule of Authorized Positians relating to classificatian of fire fighters; and WHEREAS, since the passage of Ordinance No. 2017-376, the Fire Department has updated the titles and number af positions designated far certain classificatians of Fire Department personnel, and have submitted the revisions ta the City Council far review and approval based on the Department's determinatian that these changes are in the Department's best interest; and WHEREAS, the City Council has cansidered these updated classification titles and numbers and has found these changes ta be in the City's best interest and accardingly has determined that Ordinance Na. 2017-376 should be amended to reflect the revised classificatian titles and total number of Fire Department pasitions; NOW, THEREFORE, • • # � • ' : •' � � SECTIOIV 1. Ordinance Na. 2017-376 is hereby amended as provided herein. SECTION 2. The City Cauncil hereby adopts and approves a schedule prescribing the revised titles and number of positions for the follawing Fire Department Classifications for FY 2018-2019, as shown in the chart attached hereto and incarporated by reference herein as Exhibit ��A �� SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be cumulative of all provisions of ardinances af the City of Denton, except where the provisions of the ordinance are in direct conflict with the provisions such ordinances, in which event the canflicting provisions of such ordinances are hereby repealed. �l :�°.'���i(:�� �. It is hereby declared to be the intention of the City Council that the phrases, clauses, sentences, paragraphs, and sections of this ordinance are severable, and if any phrase, clause, sentence, paragraph or section of this ordinance, shall be declared unconstitutional by the valid judgment or decree of any caurt of competent jurisdiction, such uncanstitutionality shall not affect any of the remaining phrases, clauses, sentences, paragraphs and sections of this ardinance, since the same wauld have been enacted by the City Council without the incorporatian in this ardinance of any such uncanstitutianal phrase, clause, sentence, paragraph or section. . _.
