AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, APPROVING A CITY SPONSORSHIP IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $90 OF IN -KIND SERVICES FOR THE DENTON COUNTY
AMATEUR RADIO ASSOCIATION TO HOST AN EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS
EXERCISE EVENT, TO BE HELD ON SATURDAY, MARCH 23, 2019, FROM 7:00 A.M TO
1:00 P.M., AT THE SOUTH LAKES PARK; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Denton County Amateur Radio Association is requesting the City Council
of the City of Denton to participate as a sponsor for in -kind services for an amateur radio event ("the
Event"), which will be held at the South Lakes Park on Saturday, March 23, 2019, from 7:00 a.m. to
1:00 p.m.; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the event is to provide a demonstration and exercise to test the
communications equipment under simulated emergency conditions; and
WHEREAS, the City of Denton will sponsor up to $90 of in -kind services for the event, which
will include the South Lakes pavilion rental; and
WHEREAS, in exchange for additional support, the City of Denton will be considered an
event sponsor of the Denton County Amateur Radio Association at a sponsorship level equal to the
total value of the sponsorship provided herein; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Denton finds that it is in the public's interest and
benefit to the citizens of the City of Denton to participate as a sponsor at a level not to exceed $90
of in -kind services for the event to be held at South Lakes Park on Saturday, March 23, 2019, from
7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; NOW, THEREFORE;
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Denton finds that it is in the public's interest
and benefit to the citizens of the City of Denton to participate as a sponsor at a level not to exceed
$90 for in -kind services by waiving the park pavilion fee for the event, which will be held at South
Lakes Park on Saturday, March 23, 2019, from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and that said participation as
a sponsor is hereby approved.
SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its passage and approval.
