AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF
THE REGULAR MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO ELECT FOUR CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS
TO DISTRICTS 1, 2, 3, AND 4 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON,
TEXAS HELD IN THE CITY OF DENTON ON MAY 4, 2019; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. The City Council finds and declares that the May 4, 2019 regular
municipal election was duly ordered for the purpose of electing council members to Districts 1,
2, 3, and 4; that proper notice of said election was duly given and election officials appointed;
that the election was duly held and the returns of the election officials have been delivered to the
Council, all in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas and the Charter and ordinances of
the City of Denton.
SECTION 2. The official returns of the election, herein incorporated by reference and
attached as "Exhibit A", having been opened, examined, and canvassed, and the Council hereby
finds and declares that the following candidates received a majority of the votes cast at the
election in their respective district and are declared to be elected to the City Council of the City
of Denton:

and the candidates shall assume the duties of their office on the date that they take the official
oath of office.
SECTION 3. The City Council has found and determined that the meeting at which this
ordinance is considered is open to the public and that notice thereof was given in accordance
with provisions of the Texas open meetings law, Tex. Gov't Code ch. 551, as amended, and that
a quorum of the City Council was present.
SECTION 4. This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage and
approval.

UNA ORDENANZA DE SONDEO Y DECLARACION DE VOTOS DE LOS RESULTADOS
DE LA ELECCION MUNICIPAL REGULAR PARA ELEGIR A CUATRO MIEMBROS DEL
CONSEJO A LOS DISTRITOS 1, 2, 3, Y 4 DEL CONSEJO DE LA CIUDAD DENTON,
TEXAS, LA CUAL SE LLEVO A CABO EN LA CIUDAD DE DENTON, EL DIA 4 DE
MAYO, 2019; Y SUMINISTRO DE UNA FECHA EFECTIVA.
EL CONSEJO DE LA CIUDAD DE DENTON POR ESTE MEDIO DECRETA:
SECCION 1. El Consejo de la Ciudad encuentra y declara que la eleccion municipal cual
se Ilevo a cabo el dia 4 de mayo 2019, fue debidamente ordenada para el proposito de elegir
miembros del consejo a los Distritos 1, 2, 3, y 4; que se dio aviso apropiado de la eleccion y que
los oficiales de la eleccion fueron nombrados; que la eleccion se llevo a cabo y que las
devoluciones de eleccion de los oficiales se han entregado a el Consejo, todo de acuerdo con las
leyes del Estado de Texas, la Carta de Autonomia, y ordenanzas de la Ciudad de Denton.
SECCION 2. Las devoluciones oficiales de eleccion, incorporadas aqui como referencia
y adjunto como "Anexo A", habiendo sido abiertas, examinadas y sondeadas, el Concejo
encuentra y declara que los siguientes candidatos obtuvieron la mayoria de los votos emitidos en
la eleccion en su distrito respectivo y se declaran elegidos miembros del Concejo Municipal de la
Ciudad de Denton:

SECCION 3. El Consejo ha encontrado y determinado que la junta en la cual esta
ordenanza sera considerada estard abierta al piiblico y que se dio notificacion apropiada de
acuerdo con las provisiones de la ley de Juntas Abiertas de Texas, Tex. Gov't Code ch. 551,
segun enmendada, y que un quorum de miembros del consejo estuvo presente.
SECTION 4. Esta Ordenanza entrard en vigor inmediatamente despues de su aprobacion.
