AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR
2019-2020 BUDGET AND ANNUAL PROGRAM OF SERVICES OF THE CITY OF DENTON
TO ALLOW FOR ADNSTMENTS TO THE PARKS GAS WELL FUND OF SEVENTY ONE
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($71,000) FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING IlVIPROVEMENTS TO
AMERICAN LEGION HALL, ALLOWING ADJUSTMENTS TO THE CAPITAL
IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM OF THIRTY FIVE MII,LION THREE HUNDRED FIFTY
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($35,350,000) FOR THE PURPOSE OF FiJNDING
IMPROVEMENTS TO THE CITY'S FLEET SERVICES BUII.,DING, CITY HALL WEST
RENOVATIONS AND PROJECTS 1NCLUDED IN THE 2019 BOND ELECTION;
DECLARING A PUBLIC PURPOSE; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, AN OPEN
MEETINGS CLAUSE AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance No. 19-1885, the City Council of Denton, Texas,
approved the Fiscal Year 2019-2020 Budget and Annual Program of Services (the "Budget"); and
WHEREAS, the City of Denton desires to increase funding in the Parks Gas Well Fund to
fund facility improvements; and
VVHEREAS, the City of Denton desires to increase funding in the Capital Improvement
Program to fund improvements to the City's Fleet Services Building, City Hall West renovations
and projects identified in the 2019 bond election; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that this Budget Amendment serves an important
municipal purpose as eligible items for expenditure in the current Budget, consistent with Section
102.010 of the Texas Local Government Code and ather applicable laws; NOW, THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAlNS:
SECTION 1. The findings set fc�a��� in the above preamble to this Ordinance are true and
correct and are hereby adopted.
SECTION 2. The Fiscal Year 2019-2020 Budget and Annual Program of Services is
hereby amended by the City Council as %llows: to allow for adjustments to the Parks Gas Well
Fund of $71,000 for the purpose of funding improvements to the American Legion H�il increasing
appropriations from $70,000 to $141,000; to allow for adjustments to the Capital Irnprovement
Program of $35,350,000 increasing appropriations from $502,078,393 to $537,428,393 for the
purpose of funding improvements to the City" s fleet services building ($2,900,000), City Hall West
renovation ($7,500,000) and the following projects identified in the 2019 bond election; Bonnie
Brae Phases V, VI, VII ($4,000,000), Hickory Creek ($5,250,000), Street rehab program
($1,200,000), Sidewalks ($2,500,000), Street lighting ($2,000,000), Police station renovation
($10,000,000).
SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall be filed �rr���a the City Secretary, who is directed to
attach a copy of this Ordinance to the Fiscal Year 2019-2020 Budget and Annual Program of
Services.
SECTION 4. This Ordinance was approved by at least five members of the Gity Council
as required by Section 8.08 of the City Charter.
SECTION 5. If any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase, or word i�.
this Ordinance, or the application thereof to any person or under any circumstances is held invalid
by any court of competent jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining
portions of this Ordinance, and the City Council of the City of Denton, Texas, hereby declares it
would have enacted such remaining portions despite any such invalidity.
SECTION 6. It is officially found and determined that the meeting at which this Ordinance
was passed was open to the public as required by law, and the public notice of the time, place and
purpose of this meeting was given as required by law.
SECTION 7. This Ordinance shall become effective immediately �.�pon its passage and
