20-1387ORDINANCE NO. 20-1387 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON CONCURRING WITH THE CITY MANAGER'S REORGANIZATION OF THE CITY'S DEPARTMENTS AND DIVISIONS; AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS IN CONNECTION WITH THE REORGANIZATION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, City Manager Todd Hileman commenced his employment with the City of Denton on January 23, 2017; and WHEREAS, since that date, the City Manager has focused on process improvement, customer service enhancement, and identifying organizational efficiencies; and WHEREAS, the City Manager has determined that a reorganization of some of the City's departments and divisions is necessary to provide optimal effectiveness; and WHEREAS, the City Council has found and determined that this Ordinance is in the public interest; NOW, THEREFORE: THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS: SECTION 1. The findings and recitations contained in the preamble of this ordinance are incorporated herein by reference. SECTION 2. The City Council concurs with the City Manager's reorganization of the City's departments and divisions depicted in the chart attached hereto as Exhibit A and authorizes any necessary expenditures from previously budgeted funds to support the reorganization. SECTION 3. The City Council acknowledges that the City Manager may make minor modifications to the organizational structure and expenditures necessary to support the reorganization of the City's departments and divisions after this Ordinance is adopted. Any major modifications shall be presented to the City Council via ordinance. SECTION 4. This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage and approval.
