AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, A TEXAS HOME-RULE MUNICIPAL
CORPORATION (“CITY“), AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR HIS DESIGNE E, TO
EXECUTE A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING REGARDING ELECTRICAL
DISTRIBUTION SWITCHING PROCEDURES WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH
TEXAS, A TEXAS HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTION (''UNT’), TO ENSURE ELECTRIC
SYSTEM RELIABILITY AND SAFETY FOR PARTIES BY ESTABLISHING ELECTRIC
DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM SWITCHING PROCEDURES; AND, PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Memorandum of Undcntanding Regarding Electrical
Distribution Switching Procedures (“MOU“) is to ensure electric system reliability and safety for
both the City and UNT by establishing electric distribution system switching procedures in
accordance with electric industry standards and best practices;
WHEREAS, the MOU sets forTh the roles, responsibilities, and obligations of the parties
with respect to the same;
WHEREAS, tlreCity Council finds that this Agreement is in the best interests of its citizens
and ratepayers and that the MOU should be executed ; NOW, THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDALNS:
SECTION 1: The recitations and findings contained in the preamble of this ordinance are
incoworated herein by reference as true and as if fully set forth in the body of this ordinance.
SECTION 2: Tbc City Mdnager, or his designee, is authorized to execute and deliver the
Memorandum of Understanding Regard ing Electrical Distribution Switching Procedures to WT,
as attached hereto as Exbibit “A“ and incorporated by reference herein.
SECTION 3: That this Ordinance sh,in become effective immediately upon its passage
and approval.
