21-767ORDINANCE NO. 21-767 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON PROVIDING FOR THE INDEFINITE CLOSURE OF A PORTION OF FRAME STREET AND EAST OAK STREET ADJACENT TO THE DENTON POLICE DEPARTMENT HEADQUARTERS PROPERTY FROM E. MCKINNEY STREET TO EXPOSITION STREET; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the City of Denton (the “City”) has acquired property along the opposite side of Frame Street and East Oak Street from the current Police Department building, also known as City Hall East, for the expansion thereof; and WHEREAS, the Police Department has made a request to close a portion of Frame Street and East Oak Street as more fully depicted in Exhibit A attached hereto (the “Abandonment Area”); and WHEREAS, the City of Denton Capital Projects/Engineering Department has reviewed the closure request and determined that the Abandonment Area is not needed for future street purposes; and WHEREAS, the City Council hereby finds and determines that the Abandonment Area is not needed for public street purposes and it is in the public interest to close the street right-of-way; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDArNS: SECTION 1. The findings and recitals in this ordinance are incorporated into the body of this ordinance as if set out fully herein. SECTION 2. The City Council hereby approves the indefinite closure of a portion of Frame Street and of East Oak Street from East McKinney Street to Exposition Street, as more fully shown on the attached Exhibit A, which is made a part of this ordinance for all purposes. SECTION 3. The City Manager or her designee shall direct the appropriate City department to erect traffic control devices in order to implement the indefinite closure of this portion of these streets as contemplated herein. SECTION 4.
