AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON APPROVING A CITY CO-SPONSORSHIP IN
AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $15,201 OF IN-KIND SERVICES AND RESOURCES FOR
THE DOG DAYS OF DENTON, WHICH WILL BE HELD ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 11,
2021, FROM 9:00 A.M. TO 3:00 P.M., AT THE CIVIC CENTER POOL AND QUAKERTOWN
PARK; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Denton Parks Foundation is requesting the City Council of the City of
Denton to participate as a co-sponsor for in-kind services and resources for the Dog Days of
Denton (the "Festival"), which will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to
3:00 p.m., at the Civic Center Pool and Quakertown Park; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Dog Days of Denton is to celebrate Denton's most original
festival for pooches and their people; and
WHEREAS, for the Festival, all owners shall be responsible and liable for their own pet(s)
and, for everyone's safety, dogs must be on a leash and have current vaccinations; and
WHEREAS, the City of Denton will co-sponsor up to $15,201 of in-kind services and
resources for the Festival, which will include use of the Civic Center Pool and Quakertown Park,
security and animal control personnel, park maintenance support, and promotion opportunities
provided by the Parks and Recreation Department; and
WHEREAS, in exchange for support, the City of Denton will be considered an event co-
sponsor of the Dog Days of Denton at a co-sponsorship level equal to the total value of the co-
sponsorship provided herein; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Denton finds that it is in the public's interest
and benefit to the citizens of the City of Denton to participate as a co-sponsor at a level not to
exceed $15,201 of in-kind services and resources for the Festival which will be held on Saturday,
September 11, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at the Civic Center Pool and Quakertown Park;
NOW, THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Denton finds that it is in the public's interest
and benefit to the citizens of the City of Denton to participate as a co-sponsor at a level not to
exceed $15,201 for in-kind services, for use of the Civic Center Pool and Quakertown Park,
security and animal control personnel, park maintenance support, and promotional opportunities
for the Festival, which will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.,
and that said participation as a co-sponsor is hereby approved.
SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its passage and approval.
