AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, A TEXAS HOME -RULE MUNICIPAL
CORPORATION, AUTHORIZING THE APPROVAL OF THE FIRST AMENDMENT TO A
CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF DENTON AND UNITED WAY OF DENTON
COUNTY, INC., AMENDING THE CONTRACT APPROVED BY CITY COUNCIL ON MAY 4,
2021, IN THE NOT -TO -EXCEED AMOUNT OF $128,273.36, FOR THE EMERGENCY
SOLUTIONS GRANT CARES ACT (ESG-CV); SAID FIRST AMENDMENT TO EXTEND THE
TERM OF THE CONTRACT TO OCTOBER 31, 2021; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE (RFQ 7525-005 - EXTENDING A CONTRACT WITH UNITED WAY OF DENTON
COUNTY, INC. TO OCTOBER 31, 2021).
WHEREAS, on May 4, 2021, by Ordinance No. 21-809, the City awarded a contract to
United Way of Denton County, Inc. in the amount of $128,273.36 for allocation of funding for the
Emergency Solutions Grant CARES Act (ESG-CV); and
WHEREAS, the additional fees under the proposed First Amendment are fair and reasonable
and are consistent with, and not higher than, the recommended practices and fees applicable to the
Provider's profession, and such fees do not exceed the maximum provided by law; NOW,
THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. The findings and recitations contained in the preamble of this ordinance are
incorporated herein by reference.
SECTION 2. The authority to receive additional Emergency Solutions Grant CARES Act
(ESG-CV) services from United Way of Denton County, Inc., authorized by Ordinance 21-809, is
hereby extended under File 7525-005 until October 31, 2021 by the execution of the amendment
attached hereto.
SECTION 3. The City Council delegates the authority to the City Manager, or their designee,
to take any actions that may be required or permitted to be performed by the City of Denton under
File 7525-005 to the City Manager of the City of Denton, Texas, or his designee.
SECTION 4: This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage and
approval.

THE STATE OF TEXAS
FIRST AMENDMENT TO CONTRACT
BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS
AND UNITED WAY OF DENTON COUNTY INC. (7525-005)
THIS FIRST AMENDMENT TO CONTRACT 7525-005 (this "Amendment") by
and between the City of Denton, Texas ("City") and United Way of Denton County Inc.
("Contractor") to that certain contract executed May 4, 2021, in the not to exceed amount
$128,273.36. ("the Agreement"); for allocation of funding for the Emergency Solutions
Grant CARES Act (ESG-CV)
WHEREAS, Contractor has substantially completed the work called for in the
Agreement, and the City deems it necessary to further expand the services provided by
Contractor to the City, and to provide an additional 3 -month term with this Amendment.
WHEREAS, the City deems it necessary to further expand the goods/services
provided by Contractor to the City; and
NOW THEREFORE, the City and Contractor (hereafter collectively referred to as the
"Parties"), in consideration of their mutual promises and covenants, as well as for other
good and valuable considerations, do hereby AGREE to the following Amendment, which
amends the following terms and conditions of the said Agreement, to wit:
1. This Amendment modifies the Agreement amount to provide an additional three-
month term until October 31, 2021, to be provided in accordance with the terms
of the Agreement.
The Parties hereto agree, that except as specifically provided for by this Amendment, that
all of the terms, covenants, conditions, agreements, rights, responsibilities, and obligations
of the Parties, set forth in the Agreement remain in full force and effect.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the City and the Consultant, have each executed this
Amendment, by and through their respective duly authorized representatives and officers
on this date 07/20/2021
