22-978ORDINANCE NO.22-978 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON APPROVING A CITY CO-SPONSORSHIPTO THE DENTON JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION COMMITTEE IN AN AMOUNT NOTTO EXCEED $20,365.89 OF IN-KIND SERVICES AND RESOURCES FOR THE DENTONJUNETEENTH CELEBRATION, WHICH WILL BE HELD ON FRIDAY, JUNE 17THROUGH SATURDAY, JUNE 18, 2022, AT THE FRED MOORE PARK; ANDPROVHDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Denton Juneteenth celebration Committee is requesting the City Council of the City of Denton to participate as a co-sponsor for in-kind services and resources for theAnnual Juneteenth Celebration (“the Event”), which will be held on Friday, June 17, through Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Fred Moore Park; and WHEREAS, the purpose of the Juneteenth Celebration is to actively preserve and promote the broad spectrum of the African American heritage through educational and cultural activities that include games and live music; and WHEREAS, the City of Denton will co-sponsor up to $20,365.89 of in-kind services and resources for the Event, which will include park rental, Denton Civic Center parking lot, security, Fire/EMS, park maintenance staff and supplies; and WHEREAS, in exchange for support, the City of Denton will be considered an event co- sponsor of the Juneteenth Celebration at a co-sponsorship level equal to the total value of the co- sponsorship provided herein; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Denton finds that the co-sponsorship of the Juneteenth Celebration serves a municipal and public purpose, and is in the public’s interest;NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS: SECTION 1. The findings and recitations contained in the preamble of this Ordinance are incorporated herein by reference. SECTION 2. The City Council of the City of Denton finds that it is in the public’s interest and benefit to the citizens of the City of Denton to participate as a co-sponsor at a level not toexceed 820,365.89 for in-kind services and resources which include park rental, Denton Civic Center parking lot, Fire/EMS, park maintenance staff and supplies, which will be held on Friday, June 17, through Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Fred Moore Park and that said participation as a co-sponsor is hereby approved. SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its passage and approval.
