22-1486ORDINANCE NO. 22-1486 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON APPROVING A CITY CO-SPONSORSHIPIN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $26,318.33 OF IN-KIND SERVICES ANDRESOURCES FOR THE DENTON BLUES FESTIVAL, WHICH WILL BE HELD ONFRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2022, FROM 8:00 A.M. TO 8:00 P.M.,SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2022, FROM 12:00 P.M. TO 10:00 P.M., AND SUNDAY. SEPTEMBER 18, 2022, FROM 11:OO A.M. TO 8:OO P.M., AT QUAKERTOWN PARK;AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Denton Black Chamber of Commerce is requesting the City Council of the City of Denton to participate as a co-sponsor for in-kind services and resources for the Denton Blues Festival (“the Festival”), which will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, September 17, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. to 11 :00 p.m., and Sunday, September 18, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., at Quakertown Park; and WHEREAS, the purpose of the Denton Blues Festival is to preserve the blues and further the reputation of Denton as a music entertainment destination; and WHEREAS, the City of Denton will co-sponsor up to $26,318.33 of in-kind services and resources for the Festival, which will include staff, equipment, facilities, security, park maintenance support, solid waste and use ofQuakertown Park; and WHEREAS, in exchange for support, the City of Denton will be considered an event co- sponsor of the Denton Blues Festival at a co-sponsorship level equal to the total value of the co- sponsorship provided herein; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Denton finds that it is in the public’s interest and benefit to the citizens of the City of Denton to participate as a co-sponsor at a level not toexceed $26,318.33 of in-kind services and resources for the Festival which will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, September 17, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and Sunday, September 18, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Quakertown Park; NOW THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS : SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Denton finds that it is in the public’s interest and benefit to the citizens of the City of Denton to participate as a co-sponsor at a level not to exceed $26,318.33 for in-kind services, staff, equipment, facilities, security, park maintenance support, solid waste and use of Quakertown Park for the Festival, which will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, September 17, 2022, from 12:00 p.m.to 10:00 p.m., and Sunday, September 18, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and that said participation as a co-sponsor is hereby approved. SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its passage and approval. The motion to approve this Ordinance was made by JeSSe this and seconded by Brian PiecE .
