AN ORDINANCE OF THE crrY OF DENTON, A TEXAS HOME-RULE MUNICPALCORPORATION, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE LOW INCOMEHOUSEHOLD WATER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (LIHWAP) VENDOR AGREEMENTBETWEEN THE TEXOMA COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS, AND THE CITY OF DENTON,
TEXAS; PROVIDING FOR THE ACCEPTANCE OF FUNDS ISSUED TO DENTONMUNICIPAL UTILITIES ON BEHALF OF CUSTOMERS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVEDATE
WHEREAS, the City of Denton operates municipally-owned utilities;
WHEREAS, Texoma Council of Governments requires a vendor agreement in order to
provide utility bill assistance to City of Denton customers;
WHEREAS, the Public Utility Board has considered this matter and recommended that the
City Council approve and authorize the execution of the vendor agreement; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that this ordinance is in the best interest of both thecitizens and ratepayers; NOW THEREFORE;
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. The recitals in the preamble are true and correct and are incorporated herewith
by reference.
SECTION 2. The City Manager, or their designee, is authorized to execute and deliver
documents approving LIHWAP vendor agreements on behalf of the City of Denton.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be and become effective immediately upon and after its
adoption and approval; providing acceptance and implementation by the Texoma Council of
Governments for the remainder of calendar year 2022.
